Belgian ISPs have quietly started to block a number of torrent sites – among them Kat.ph, ExtraTorrent, BitSnoop and H33T. Belgium was one of the first European countries to have a court-ordered blocking of The Pirate Bay imposed on ISPs. TorrentFreak states that the original Pirate Bay blockade forced many Belgians to start using proxies so they could continue accessing content. It has also done some digging around and, while it found that several torrent sites were no longer accessible in the country, it says that Kickass.to (the new domain from KAT) is still open to Belgians. “This is quite an oversight as this is by far the most popular torrent site and the domain is ranked as the 55th most-visited in Belgium,” it wryly notes. “The latest Pirate Bay domain is accessible as well.”
