Google has introduced HD video quality to its Google+ Hangouts offering. It is currently moving it from the H.264 video codec to the open source VP8 which is capable of delivering 720p HD video. The next leap, according to the company, will be to the WebRTC standard. Earlier this month, Google+ partnered with SoundCloud so that when a SoundCloud link is sent to a Google+ Circle the widget player appears automatically in the post.
