AMCOS, the Australasian mechanical copyright society, has signed what it is terming a “ground-breaking partnership” and blanket licensing deal with video ad firm Boom Video. Boom, which launched in 2010, is YouTube’s first partner network in Australia and New Zealand and this deal means the channels on its network can create and broadcast covers of compositions by AMCOS members. Musicians on Boom will now get a share of ad revenue (splits were not made public) of covers performed on their channels.
