Remember the days when console games were the place to debut new tracks for some artists? Mobile games are edging into that market too. Interscope artist Imagine Dragons is providing an exclusive track for Infinity Blade III, which launches next week as one of the flagship games for Apple’s new iPhone 5s smartphone. It’ll also be available on other devices. The deal is a partnership between the band and developer ChAIR Entertainment, with the song written to appear alongside a specific battle in the game. There will also be a branded weapon for players to use: the Imagine Dragon axe, which when used to battle monsters in the fantasy-themed game will also trigger the song. That’s the interesting aspect here: it’s not just a soundtrack-exclusive deal, but a bit deeper.
