Maybe *that* video wasn’t as much of a wrecking-ball to Miley Cyrus’ career as some of the critics thought, at least in the short term. Billboard reports that ‘Wrecking Ball’ looks likely to top its Hot 100 chart this week, with strong streams and sales the main factors. The song was watched 15.5m times in the US on YouTube in its first two days last week, was being streamed lots on audio services too, and was on course to sell more than 400k downloads in the US during the week. Thus a strong chance of overhauling Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ at the top of the singles chart, despite ‘Wrecking Ball’ not even being on the top 100 most-played songs on US radio. And for more big numbers, turn to YouTube MCN ZEFR, which claims Cyrus’ performance at the MTV VMAs has been watched more than 203m times on YouTube in the last two weeks.
