Pew-Research-Center

The Pew Research Center has published its latest stats on mobile usage in the US, reporting that 63% of adult mobile phone owners are using their handsets to go online with. That’s double the proportion identified in a similar survey in 2009, with Pew noting that in 2013, 21% of all adult mobile owners say they do most of their online browsing from their phone rather than from computers. “For many, such as younger adults or lower-income Americans, cell phones are often a primary device for accessing online content — a development that has particular relevance to companies and organisations seeking to reach these groups,” explains Pew’s Aaron Smith. Think of the success of Muve Music or Rdio’s recent claim that two thirds of its new registrations are coming from phones for signs of the impact on music.
