DIY mobile apps platform Mobile Roadie has announced a major update, taking its service to version 5.0. New features include the ability for artists to poll their fans and analyse the results; run ‘Golden Ticket’ contests (for example to give away free album downloads); let fans create their own events; make the signup process smoother when a fan first uses an app; a standalone Twitter section; and improvements to the fan wall and overall interface. One thing that’s slightly puzzling: the boast that Mobile Roadie v5 is “enhanced for iOS 6 and iPhone 5” nearly a year after the software and device were launched. Given that iOS 7 launches next week, and is being described as the biggest change for Apple’s mobile software for several years, we suspect customers will want support for that sooner rather than later – particularly as there are reports of unoptimised apps looking ugly and/or buggy when running under iOS 7.
