eMarketer has published its latest predictions for advertising spending through to 2017, including online and mobile. It expects overall spending to rise slightly to $517.1bn this year, growing to $617.3bn by 2017. But digital ads are expected to hit $117.6bn this year, up 13% on 2012, and accounting for 22% of total ad spending. eMarketer also breaks out its predictions for mobile advertising, which it expects to rise 79.7% this year to $15.8bn, then continue growing to $59.7bn by 2017. That’s 2.6% of total ad spend in 2013, rising to just under 9.7% by 2017. That’s encouraging news for the various digital music services hoping for ad-supported mobile success, from Pandora and iTunes Radio through to the likes of Saavn, Gaana and Dhingana in India. eMarketer predicted earlier this year that Pandora would do $400m of mobile advertising revenues in 2013, out of $580m overall ad revenues.
