Another day, another music discovery app: this time from German startup Dailycatessen. The app is called Roadee Music and it’s available for iPhone, promising fans a way to follow their favourite artists, get push notifications about new releases on iTunes, listen to preview clips then buy them from Apple’s store. The app scans people’s existing iTunes libraries to stock their follow list, but also lets them search for artists from its 2.4m-strong database. “I love music and I simply missed a lot of releases. From this pain I wanted to offer a solution for myself and others like me,” says Dailycatessen’s Christoph Kolb. One quibble from us: Roadee costs £1.49 on the App Store, which is likely to restrict its audience considerably. Second, its focus solely on iTunes may pale in comparison to apps like Discovr and Seenth.is, which offer similar artist-following features, but pull in videos, social updates and other content too.
