2010 called: it wants its innovative partnership with social location service Foursquare back. Sorry, a bit harsh: Foursquare is still going, even if the hype around check-ins has died down a lot since its heyday. And the company has a brand new digital music partner: streaming service Songza. From yesterday, people checking in to music venues get a Songza badge in Foursquare’s app, and access to a playlist co-created by the two companies. The first 500 people to unlock the badge’s second level will get six months of free access to the Songza Club premium service. “We see our services as very complementary to one another in that we both aim to make your life better right now: Songza does that based on what you’re doing and Foursquare does that based on where you and your friends are,” Songza’s Eric Davich tells Billboard. He also gives a new stat on Songza’s mobile popularity: “About 75% of our usage is attributed to mobile handsets and tablets, so we anticipate that Songza users are on the go most of the time.”
