Streaming service Mixcloud has relaunched its Android app with a sleek new design and more discovery features.
Available in the Google Play store, the new version of the app adds the ‘Discover’ tab that Mixcloud’s iPhone app got in an update earlier this year, suggesting shows and mixes to people based on their previous listening habits.
Just as interesting for us is a stat announced by Mixcloud as part of the launch: the company says that 25% of its listening now comes on mobile devices, up from 10% in May when its iPhone app was relaunched.
Back then, Mixcloud had 10m monthly active users who were listening for an average of 36 minutes per session, although neither of those figures has yet been updated by the company.
Mobile is clearly becoming a bigger priority for Mixcloud, as for other streaming services – 10% to 25% is good mobile growth, but there’s a way to go to match the 70%-plus mobile listening seen on services like Pandora.
