We wrote briefly about a new app called Purifier in yesterday’s Bulletin, but now more details have emerged on the startup and its founder. The latter is Matt Gudinski, executive director of Mushroom Group, who tells Billboard that the new app is “a bit like an RSS reader on steroids: I really felt there was nothing in the dedicated music space and in the music community, to allow like-minded music fans to interact and share similar content.” The app is iPhone-only for now, but with Android and iPad versions coming by the end of the year, as well as plans to add music streaming, blogging and events listings. As we noted yesterday, the app in its current form focuses on pulling in news and content from news sites, blogs and social networks, with users able to customise it to focus on their favourite artists.
