Live music service Songkick now attracts more than 8.5m unique users a month through its apps and website. The milestone was revealed as part of the announcement of a new partnership with US streaming service Songza, and represents a 70% rise from the 5m monthly users Songkick was reporting back in the spring of 2012 (Bulletin, 8-Mar-12). What about the new partnership, though? It involves creating a “rolling playlist” based on the artists currently on tour in the US, with some editorial tuning to keep it relevant and appealing. “Given that playlists are the heart of Songza’s service we thought this was the most native integration,” Songkick CEO Ian Hogarth tells Billboard. It’s part of a deepening of Songkick’s partnerships with streaming services, including the On Tour bar appearing within artist profiles on Spotify.
