This sounds clever: a cloud-based music-making app called Soundation Studio that uses the Google+ Hangouts technology to let up to 10 people collaborate on music while video-chatting. It’s the work of Swedish startup PowerFX Systems, which has teamed up with artist Daria Musk – one of the first artists to use Hangouts to connect with fans back in the day – to show off its software. She’s launching a “social music making remix contest” using her song ‘Ghost’, which will see fans remixing the song together and uploading it to a Soundation group, with a winner picked by Musk and dancer Karen Cheng, who’ll then hold a Hangout with them and broadcast it on YouTube (complete with dancing). “The video element and the potential of engaging anyone with an internet connection really expands the possibilities,” says Soundation’s Bil Bryant in a statement.
