Britney-Spears

To promote her new album Britney Speaks took to Twitter. Nothing unusual in that, you might think. The difference was she linked to a scan of a handwritten note. It ran to just over 300 words and she started by saying, “We’re all so used to getting our thoughts out in 140 characters, but sometimes its nice to take time to sit down and write something a little longer and more personal.” There’s a lot of what we can call Superstar Platitudes in it (she “poured [her] heart and soul” into the album and it has been “an incredible journey”, apparently) but, if you can slice through that, it’s actually quite endearing that she’s trying to revive a dying communication form – the handwritten letter.
