Don’t worry, Live Nation isn’t pivoting into a Tinder-like mobile hookups service. Not yet, anyway. The company’s digital division, Live Nation Labs, has acquired mobile dating startup Meexo, but it sounds very much like an ‘acquihire’ for the people rather than the specific app they’ve been developing. TechCrunch reports that Meexo’s two co-founders will become head of mobile product and head of mobile engineering at Live Nation Labs, although how that fits with a previous acquisition of mobile startup Rexly, whose boss Joel Resnicow is ‘mobile product lead’ at Live Nation, is unclear. The company’s VP of product Ethan Kaplan says more acquisitions may be on the way: “In the next year, I have a big mandate for mobile,” he says. A post on Meexo‘s website hints at grand plans: “Context is becoming implicit as opposed to explicit. After spending decades listening to our phones, our phones are starting to listen and pay attention to us,” it explains. “This opens the doors to new emerging possibilities and new horizons for entrepreneurs to explore. Live Nation Labs is committed to be at the front row of innovation, and we believe that together we will open great new acts…”
