Music lyrics service MusiXmatch has a popular mobile app which has been downloaded more than 20m times. Now the company is launching a physical accessory to go with its iOS app: a microphone, designed to help people sing along karaoke-style, connecting their iPhone or iPad to a nearby hi-fi or TV to share their dulcet tones with friends and family. It’s an interesting bundle: people pay £79.95 for the microphone, and get a year’s ad-free access to MusiXmatch, and two months access to the company’s Live Pass feature, which removes vocals from the user’s stored songs to make space for their own singing. “We think it’s a new entertainment experience which makes it easy for anyone to sing along without buying expensive and poor quality hardware that only offers access to limited song catalogues,” says CEO Max Ciociola.
