We mentioned Thrillcall in passing in early 2012 when it launched an iOS app for selling last-minute gig tickets (Bulletin, 16-Feb-12) but hadn’t heard much of it since then. Now the company is making headlines for the wrong reasons: a messy lawsuit between its CEO and two of his co-founders. Chief Jonathan Leone fired Chad Taylor and Matthew Tomaszewicz in October, sparking their lawsuit for breach of oral contract, breach of fiduciary duty and wrongful retaliation. There are some eyebrow-raising claims in the lawsuit of financial mismanagement, although Leone is claiming the lawsuit is sour grapes after the two were fired due to a “disagreement over management of the company”. Leone’s role as vice-mayor of the city of Sausalito gives the case added prominence, with a trial set for March if no settlement can be reached.
