Artists aren’t just uploading their music to SoundCloud: they’re using the audio site in a variety of innovative ways. We’ve covered some of them in this Bulletin and in our Sandbox Report, but now SoundCloud’s David Adams has picked his favourite marketing campaigns on the platform from 2013 in an op-ed piece for Hypebot. They include: Of Montreal singer Kevin Barnes logging in to respond to fans’ timed comments on a new track; Little Mix’s ‘Mixers Monday’ clips “from news, to studio updates, announcements, vocal warm-ups and giggles” rather than just music; Big Sean’s freestyle rapping contest for fans, which attracted more than 1,000 entries; and A$AP Rocky’s nifty campaign using SoundCloud and Twilio to turn voicemails into remixable tracks.
