comScore has published its latest analysis of online video viewing in the US, with YouTube adopting its customary position at the top of its chart with 163.5m unique US viewers in November. We’re as interested in the company’s chart of multi-channel networks (MCNs) on YouTube, which includes several music companies. Vevo tops that list with 42.6m unique US viewers in November, ahead of entertainment MCNs Fullscreen (30.5m) and Maker Studios (27.4m) – both of which have spent much of 2013 in licensing talks with various music rightsholders. Warner Music (25.3m viewers), The Orchard (19.9m) and Universal Music Group (18.1m) also make the top 10 of comScore’s MCN chart for November. Back to the general rankings for video sites, with Vevo’s standalone website attracting 43.7m US viewers according to comScore – a big drop from October’s 49.6m figure in the chart. As we noted when reporting on that month’s rankings (Bulletin, 18-Nov-13) it seems that comScore isn’t tracking as much as 30% of Vevo’s total views – the ones on mobile and connected devices.
