Beatport

After the bad news – layoffs towards the end of 2013 – dance-music store Beatport is getting a bump in profile via a partnership between its parent company SFX Entertainment and media group Clear Channel. Beatport’s brand will be all over the results, including a new weekly Top 20 ‘countdown’ chart show based on the most popular dance tracks in the US. “We’ve been aware of Beatport’s power and credibility not only within the EDM world, but also as an audience leader across genres,” Clear Channel’s John Sykes told Billboard. “40m unique users per year is the gold standard for what’s happening in EDM, and makes them a perfect companion for our other countdown shows like Ryan Seacrest, which give an accurate read of what’s trending in America.” The syndicated show will be accompanied by live events and a DJ talent contest.
