The UK’s Technology Strategy Board (TSB) has announced its latest Digital Innovation Contest for British startups. Focused on “Cross-Sector Exploration”, the contest includes nine challenges across three themes, with up to £25k in funding available for the nine winning startups. Argos, LIFT/Saatchi & Saatchi, Procter & Gamble, Holition, Penguin Random House, The Barbican and the British Film Institute (BFI) are among the companies taking part and setting the challenges, but the ones of most interest to Music Ally readers / music startups are Syco Entertainment and Live Nation. Syco is looking for analytics tools to help “automate the process of spotting new talent and buzz online”, while Live Nation is hoping to unearth “novel approaches that use digital technologies to enable music festival producers to understand their audiences better to be able to provide music fans with a more engaging experience”. The TSB is running a briefing event for startups on 29 January at Rich Mix in London, ahead of the application deadline of 26 February. Disclosure: Music Ally works with the TSB on its innovation contests.
