Soundcloud

It must be the day for web services to be thinking about communication between creators and fans. Besides YouTube’s new comment management page, audio platform SoundCloud has debuted a new messaging system on its website, promising that it “makes it simpler than ever to share what you’ve heard and to talk about what you’ve been playing and loving”.

SoundCloud users can ping tracks and playlists back and forth using the new system, which threads messages by conversation. It’s built into the existing ‘Share’ button on SoundCloud, with ‘Message’ now an option alongside ‘Share’ and ‘Embed’. A neat and welcome feature, although we’re guessing it will be added to SoundCloud’s mobile app sooner rather than later, which could be really interesting. We’ve seen umpteen music startups trying to make a business out of music-messaging apps. For SoundCloud, it may be just another feature.
