Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ held the record for most streams in a single week on Spotify in the UK, but that record has now fallen to Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’, which was streamed 1.09m times by Brits on the service last week. In fact, the track is set to pass 3m lifetime streams on Spotify UK later today, matching its success in the (sales-based) UK singles chart this month. “It’s great to see another track doing over a million streams a week in the UK on Spotify – the first track to do so since Daft Punk’s Get Lucky tore onto the scene last year,” said Spotify’s Mark Williamson. “But it’s also fantastic that Clean Bandit went on to smash Daft Punk’s record with an even bigger week of streams, and to now be sitting at number 1 on both the Spotify chart and on the official sales chart.” ‘Rather Be’ appears to be stimulating interest in Clean Bandit’s older tracks too: songs like ‘Mozart’s House’ (636k streams globally on Spotify) and ‘Dust Clears’ (558k) are benefitting.
