If you left it too late to buy a Valentine’s card last week, you could at least have enlisted Ol’ Blue Eyes to woo (well, apologise to) your significant other. Universal Music Group launched a ‘Sinatra, With Love‘ campaign for Valentine’s Day including an online e-card maker site, where people could choose an image, write a message then tap Spotify for “your choice of swingin’ standard or timeless ballad’ to send to a special friend. The microsite also promoted the official Sinatra Facebook page and YouTube channel, as well as pointing fans to the 14-track ‘Sinatra, With Love’ compilation on iTunes. Separately, social music service Soundrop launched a dedicated Valentine’s Sinatra room for people to log on and stream the star’s most romantic hits. It’s a sign of UMG’s determination to put some digital promotion behind Frank Sinatra, after signing a global deal for his back catalogue including albums from Capitol and Reprise for the first time.
