Harmonix made its name in the heyday of music console games, initially with Guitar Hero, then Rock Band and Dance Central. The developer is still going though: it announced its next game yesterday, and music is still a key feature, even if the genre is surprising. Chroma will be a free-to-play first-person shooter game. “Everything that happens is all on the beat of the music that plays in each level. The firing of guns, the explosion of grenades, everything happens on the beat and everything has sound effects that complement the audio track,” explains Wired in its preview. The game is due out this Autumn, and will be distributed on PC through the Steam platform, which we recently wrote about for its own new music features (Bulletin, 5-Feb-14).
