More details are coming out about Amazon’s proposed streaming service that it will link to Amazon Prime subscriptions. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Amazon will put a cap on how many times a user can listen to a particular song. The strategy here, apparently, is that hooking users with limited streams will, when that is cut off, drive them to purchase the tracks in question from the Amazon MP3 store. We reported yesterday on the suggestions that Amazon will pay labels from a fixed pool of money each year and the WSJ fleshes this out for the publishing side of things, suggesting publishers will get 21% of what labels get.
