Heaven knows how this came about, but it’s certainly a new slant on social media news on new albums. On Friday, former boxer Mike Tyson tweeted “Turn Blue” to his 4.15m followers, with a YouTube link to a video announcing that the new Black Keys album will be called ‘Turn Blue’, and will come out on 13 May. It ties in with blue-themed pictures that band member Patrick Carney has been sharing on Instagram this month, in what looks like a quirky promotional campaign. One of those photos suggests the band will be selling the album from their own website – “We accept Cash, Check, Credit Card, Wire Transfer, PayPal, Bit Coins [sic]” – although on past form, we suspect the album won’t be available to stream from services like Spotify for a while, if ever.
