Former Swedish House Mafia don Steve Angello is celebrating his label Size Records’ 10th birthday by giving away 150 tracks through a partnership with Google. The tracks, which can be browsed though a whizzy microsite that streams 30-second samples of each track, then directs fans to the Google Play store. “When deciding what to do when celebrating the 10 years of Size, we thought of every possible marketing idea. We’re proud of where the scene has gone. We’re proud of how electronic music has grown,” explained the label. “Size belongs to you and Size belongs to me. So to mark our 10 years, we have decided that the right thing to do is to give it all to you. So download, share, enjoy and #Decade.” What about fans who can’t access Google Play? Size Records has them covered too: “Sign up with your email and we will send you all of the tracks directly to your email on April 1,” explains a message to fans in countries where the store isn’t available. A canny mailing-list building tactic right there.
