Fresh from being acquired by Disney in a deal that could ultimately worth up to $950m, multi-channel network Maker Studios has signed a new distribution deal. It’s with video-on-demand network Music Choice, which will (naturally) be focusing its efforts on Maker’s music catalogue. Parody artist Bart Baker is the first to benefit, with a “month-long takeover” on Music Choice with his spoof videos. “We’re thrilled that Music Choice viewers will now be able to experience stars like the incredible Bart Baker and we look forward to sharing more great music content in the coming year,” said Maker Studios’ Jenna Seiden. Maker has been one of the MCNs targeted by music publishers in the US for their lack of licensing deals, but last year it agreed a deal in principle with the National Music Publishers Association (Bulletin, 7-Aug-13).
