Following in Instagram’s recent footsteps, Vine has added direct messaging to its short-form video platform. This allows users (or brands/companies/artists) to send direct and private messages to anyone using the service. While users can limit who they receive direct messages from (but, to do so, will have to opt out of free private messaging entirely), Vine stands accused of facilitating a spam landslide and also turbo-charging “sexting”.
