What seems like the umpteenth round of Led Zeppelin remasters are live and loud this month, including homepage promotion on Spotify for a playlist of the new deluxe editions of the band’s first three albums (ahem, complete with an extra ‘l’ in the  band’s name in the ‘#NowPlaying – Frequently Updated – Led Zeppellin I, II & III’ title). Anyway, the playlist is the work of PlaylistMe UK, the streaming curation team within Warner Music Group. And it reminded us that all three major labels now have similar streaming-curation sub-brands operating on Spotify and elsewhere: WMG has PlaylistMe, Universal has Digster, and Sony Music has Filtr. Which isn’t surprising – curating playlists is simply smart marketing in 2014 – but it will make for some interesting comparisons in the months to come gauging their respective growth. For example, in Sweden – heartland for this kind of curation – PlaylistMe has 18.4k followers on Spotify, Filtr has 618.6k and Digster has 392.2k (although we suspect it’s much earlier days for WMG’s brand).
