The former CEO of online video service Hulu, Jason Kilar, is working on a new startup. It’s called Vessel, and yesterday Kilar published a few hints at its plans – backed by a reported $75m of funding from VC firms Benchmark and Greylock, as well as from Amazon boss Jeff Bezos. “We’ve been busy building a service whose mission is to delight consumers and content creators alike,” explained Kilar. “If you are a content creator, particularly a video content creator, we should talk! We have assembled a unique and talented team, with strong experience building and innovating at places like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon. As a team, we are unusually passionate about the intersection of media and technology; we see an opportunity to improve media, particularly next generation video.” Kilar went on to stress that there’ll be more details by the end of this year, so the exact nature of Vessel’s business remains mysterious.
