Label Concord Music Group has been busy recently: it’s just re-released five albums from the Paul McCartney archives as iPad apps. Band on the Run, McCartney, McCartney II, RAM and Wings over America launched on Apple’s App Store yesterday, costing £5.49 apiece. Each app includes a remastered version of the original album, full album and single artwork, interviews with McCartney himself, photos and a mixture of videos, from promos to documentaries. The apps save space by only downloading music and video once installed on the iPad. They’re the latest take on albums-as-apps that we’ve seen, with a price tuned for the App Store: we’ve previously seen labels try to charge more than £10 for this kind of thing.
