There are a number of startups currently punting creative mobile apps that mash up music with people’s own photos and videos. Sympler is the latest: an iPhone app that launched yesterday billed as “a video mixing and remixing app for creators of all levels”. Users can stitch together their own photos, videos and music from their iPhones – including those from Vine and Instagram – or they can “remix” videos by other Sympler users that they see in their feed within the app. There’s also a nifty-looking feature involving tapping to the beat to sync up the videos and photos. And as usual, everything people create can be shared on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Tumblr, as well as within the Sympler community. It’s certainly inventive, but now the battle begins to convince people to actually download and use it.
