Beats Electronics’ decision to sell to Apple in a $3bn deal has certainly brought the lawsuits flocking. The latest to sue the company is audio technology firm Bose, which claims Beats has infringed on some of its patents for noise-cancellation technology. Five individual patents are listed in the lawsuit, which goes into some detail on Bose’s 50 years of research into the technology. The lawsuit is asking for an injunction against continued infringement by Beats, a “full account” of sales of infringing headphones so far, and damages. “We are committed to protecting our investment, protecting our customers, and defending the patents we own,” said the company in a statement. It’s another concern for Apple as it works to close the deal to buy Beats – no, it hasn’t closed yet.
