YouTube continues to work on new features for its individual creators. The company published a video on its YouTube Creators channel yesterday called YouTube Creator Preview promising to “give you more transparency into what we’re doing… to show you the features and products we’re building ahead of time”. It’s interesting: various team members explaining what tools are coming next for creators. For example: a mobile app for YouTubers providing basic YouTube channel management tasks on the go; ways for creators to crowdfund on YouTube itself rather than just on external sites like Kickstarter; a new ‘Creator Academy’ that will be a “one-stop shop” for help on using YouTube more effectively; work on a “community captions project” to crowdsource translated captions for videos in 60+ languages; and also helping musical YouTubers with “mash-ups and cover songs… wouldn’t it be awesome if you could share in the revenues from those videos? Well, for the first time you can.” Interesting times…
