WholeWorldBand, an iOS audio and video recording app developed by Kevin Godley, has raised €5m in new funding. The model is that of a virtual studio where musicians can collaborate online through Seed Sessions and among the major artists signed up to use it are Ronnie Wood, Passenger and Dave Stewart. “Think of it as your own multitrack version of YouTube, where you can record with anyone, anywhere,” is how Godley describes it. Barry Maloney of Balderton Capital (one of the investors), added, “WholeWorldBand is underpinned by a world class rights management system. We see enormous potential.” Rights management is also wrapped around the app which clears the requisite performance royalties and contributors to Seed Sessions will share in any revenues they generate.
