Spotify has admitted that an internal breach of its security has meant that one user of the service on the Android platform experienced unauthorised access to their account. Oskar Stål, Spotify’s CTO, was quick to blog about the breach and to reassure customers that it was doing everything to strengthen its security. He claimed “only one Spotify user’s data has been accessed and this did not include any password, financial or payment information” in the breach. He added that an upgrade to the Android app is imminent and will provide increased security. “We have taken steps to strengthen our security systems in general and help protect you and your data – and we will continue to do so,” he said. “We will be taking further actions in the coming days to increase security for our users.”
