YouTube is launching a major redesign of its app for televisions, starting with the one available for Microsoft’s Xbox One console. While one thrust of the redesign is to match YouTube’s design evolution on computers and mobile devices, there’s also a strong emphasis on channels and playlists. “When you sign in, you can jump to all the latest videos from your subscriptions and recommendations in the What to Watch section, or pop on a playlist you’ve saved,” explained software engineer Tyler Breisch in a blog post. “Your favourite creators are making new playlists every day, and with the updated YouTube app for TV you’ll be able to see all of them. With new channel pages, you’ll see everything they’ve curated for you, helping you find even more to watch from your favourite creators.” Both representative of wider trends in the way YouTube has been growing.
