Taylor Swift and Aphex Twin are making new music. No, not together, sadly. But both revealed their next moves yesterday, making for an interesting contrast. Swift used a 30-minute livestream on Yahoo to announce plans for a new album, ‘1989’, which will be released in October. And she surprised fans and the industry alike by accompanying the announcement with a new single and video, ‘Shake It Off’. The single is already on iTunes with the album pre-order, but on past form, don’t hold your breath for streaming services. Aphex Twin was more obtuse with his announcement of new music, tweeting a link that could only be accessed through the Tor ‘deep web’ network. Fans following the link found details of a new album called ‘SYRO’ along with a tracklisting, although unsurprisingly, the information was quickly republished on the regular-ole’ shallow web for fans without Tor access.
