Kate Bush is the latest artist hoping to avoid a sea of cameraphones waving in the air during her concerts, although her chosen method is a polite letter on her website, rather than takedowns or threats. “We have purposefully chosen an intimate theatre setting rather than a large venue or stadium. It would mean a great deal to me if you would please refrain from taking photos or filming during the shows,” wrote Bush. “I very much want to have contact with you as an audience, not with iphones, ipads or cameras. I know it’s a lot to ask but it would allow us to all share in the experience together.” We’re sure a lot of fans will respect her views. Although with these being Bush’s first concerts in 35 years, we’re also sure that a fair few attendees won’t be able to resist taking the odd surreptitious snap to share on social networks. Let’s hope they’re not promptly hustled out by bouncers, Prince-style, if they’re spotted.
