Next Tuesday, Apple will unveil its new iPhones at an event in Cupertino, and while there is frenetic speculation that it will also show off its long-rumoured smartwatch, there is also increasing chatter about a music angle on the night. Irish journalists are claiming that the new iPhone may be playing a prominent role in U2’s next music video, and tipping Bono for a “special musical guest” appearance at Apple’s launch. Meanwhile, Digital Spy picks up on another artist – Madonna – noting that people saying “Unapologetic Bitch” to Apple’s Siri service are directed to her Wikipedia page. Unapologetic Bitch being the rumoured title for her new single. Madonna AND Bono to star at the iPhone 6 launch? Okay, probably not, but we’re expecting music to play a role: perhaps with a global rollout announcement for Beats Music and/or iTunes Radio (perhaps including folding the latter into the former?) and some kind of preload plus subscription bundle with the new iOS devices. Music Ally will be reporting from Cupertino next Tuesday, so stay tuned.
