Video-making men OK Go are claiming that Apple liberally “borrowed” their promo for ‘The Writing’s On The Wall’ for the iPhone 6 launch. The band’s video is based around multiple real-time optical illusions as a camera moves around a massive studio. In the Apple video (called ‘Perspective’), a camera moves around a big room and there are lots of real-time optical illusions. It gets a bit more complicated as the band’s manager claims they met with Apple to pitch that very visual concept for a possible collaboration but Apple didn’t bite. The band hired 1stAveMachine and did their video themselves. And then Apple made its own video using… 1stAveMachine. “Hmmmm.” The two videos are in the link below so you can make your own mind up. If nothing else, it’s a nice few minutes watching some stuff on YouTube. And Lord knows we all need an excuse to watch stuff on YouTube.
