DJ, musician and former Swedish House Mafia-er Steve Angello has been talking about his other job as boss of Size Records, telling Music Week about his positive approach to industry disruption. “A lot of people are complaining about record sales being down, streaming is up, people aren’t making money on streaming,” says Angello. “But at the same time there are one billion opportunities out there to make money, you’ve just got to find them.” Angello cites the desire of brands to get into music as one of the key opportunities. “Every platform wants to accommodate a music listener because it’s one of the biggest movements in the world. Look at what Jay Z did for Magna Carta working with Samsung,” he says. “He had a great campaign and gave away one million albums. A lot of people might say that it wasn’t the right way, but is there a right way? There are no rules; there were never any rules.”
