YouTube has confirmed that its VP of YouTube content Tom Pickett has left the company, with the Wall Street Journal reporting that he is “leaving to take the chief executive post at another company” that is as yet unnamed. “Tom has played an important role over the last seven years growing YouTube’s operations and content partnership organisations,” a YouTube spokesperson told the paper, which notes that more than 12 of YouTube’s top execs have left the company this year, in a shakeup under new chief executive Susan Wojcicki. Pickett may be best known to Music Ally readers for bearing the brunt of heckling Midem attendees in his appearance at the industry conference earlier this year. “We are all in on music,” he said at the time. “We’ve paid out to the music industry over the last several years over a billion dollars. So there is money being generated in this ad-supported model.”
