When Deezer was talking earlier this year about its ambitions to launch in the US, many journalists (us included) thought telco deals might be its way in. Actually, it’s hardware partnerships that are providing Deezer with its first foothold in the US. Having announced its high-definition launch Stateside with Sonos a few weeks ago, now Deezer is working with another audio firm: Bose. This time, the audio is standard rather than high-def quality, with Deezer built in to Bose’s SoundTouch connected speakers. Buyers can sign up to pay $5 a month for the first year of their subscription to the service. “It’s the first mass-market launch in the US,” Deezer’s North America boss Tyler Goldman told GigaOm, hinting at plans for more partnerships ahead.
