Here’s a fun sign of how musicians are starting to join up Google’s different services: specifically Google Hangout web chats and YouTube videos. David Guetta is hitting the promotional trail for his new album, including a Hangout on Friday streamed from the YouTube Space in New York. And during the event, Guetta released a new video on YouTube for his single ‘Dangerous’, with the album itself also made available for pre-order during the livestream. The latter used Google’s Showcase app, which was launched earlier this year as a way to direct Hangout viewers to websites, merchandise, videos, Google+ profiles and Google Play content. These features all work well, but the key is getting people to watch the Hangouts: at the time of writing,Friday’s event has been watched just over 76,000 times.
