British music startup MusicQubed has another high-profile client: MTV. The latter has launched its new MTV Trax mobile music service, just in time for its EMA awards show in Glasgow this weekend. It follows in the footsteps of previous MusicQubed apps launched with Samsung and O2: an iOS and Android app for fans to “get today’s hottest music tracks downloaded free-of-charge overnight so they can wake up to new tracks every day and listen to them anytime and anywhere, even underground or in the air”. MYV is curating the playlists, including its Your MTV Top 20 weekly chart, which is based on social buzz. The app is free for three months, at which point we’d expect the usual £1-a-week billing to kick in.

  1. I would really love to use this MTV Trax service to listen to playlist offline for such a very cheap subscription price (4,99 pounds a month). Seems like a good alternative for the recently stopped MixRadio (due to Line). No alternative like it in the Netherlands. Still hoping also that Slacker Radio Plus will become available in Europe (NL) one day.
