We’re very intrigued by a new venture within Viacom called Ripcord, which came to our attention yesterday when This Is My Jam co-founder Hannah Donovan announced she was joining the group. “Ripcord is a new creative technology studio at Viacom Music Group,” explains its website. “We believe that great stories – whether spoken, written, moving or translated to ones and zeros – create culture and connect us all.” Donovan added this on her own blog: “I can’t think of a better place to work at the intersection of product and content than Viacom, home of MTV, VH1 and CMT, insane stage experiences, pop culture, and a decades-rich vault of content.” What next for This Is My Jam though? It’s “coming out of beta” according to her separate post on its blog, with an update about to debut “many of the things you’ve been patiently writing us about, plus tasty new experience updates and a fresh look that will take Jam into the future”, including its recently-announced plans for brand involvement.
